Magical Heat
Based on research by Technion scientists, TherMagiX is set to revolutionize the world of green energy through the use of waste heat
The energy company TherMagiX, founded on the research of three Technion scientists, has received a prestigious grant from the Israel Innovation Authority.
The three scientists are Prof. Guy Ramon (CTO), Prof. Em. Yehuda Agnon (CSO), and Prof. Em. Carlos Dosoretz, all faculty members in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The company is led by CEO Rear Admiral (RADM) Gil Aginsky and VP R&D Nir Halup, both Technion alumni.

This pioneering company, joining the growing ecosystem of T3’s portfolio, and the university’s strategic focus on sustainability, introduces a global breakthrough in clean energy technologies: a system for capturing and utilizing low-temperature residual heat – a resource that is largely untapped in today’s industry.
The new technology enables the conversion of wasted heat into electricity and/or cooling, improving the energy efficiency of industrial facilities and dramatically reducing their carbon footprint. The innovation is based on Phase Change Thermoacoustics – an advanced approach for converting thermal energy into acoustic energy, which can then be used to produce electricity or cooling. This method relies on cutting-edge physical principles of phase transitions and wave dynamics.
The advantages of TherMagiX’s technology include:
- Unique ability to operate at low temperatures and pressures
- No moving parts and zero emissions
- Low production and operating costs
- Compatibility with any amount of residual heat
TherMagiX is the youngest company in the Next Gear Ventures portfolio and is also part of the Blue Economy fund in Haifa. Winning the Israel Innovation Authority grant represents a national vote of confidence in the technology, providing the company with strategic support, national recognition, professional backing, and validation of the importance of Israeli innovation on the global stage.
The company already has strategic partners in the shipping, data center, and heavy industry sectors operating in the Haifa region, and is in the early stages of collaborations in additional sectors worldwide.
CEO Gil Aginsky said, “For years, I’ve been driven by the desire to improve the efficiency of energy production and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a Technion graduate, I knew that a breakthrough would come through collaboration with Technion researchers to realize the vision of making clean energy accessible – and that’s exactly what happened!”
